Linda’s favourite high-protein breakfast

high-protein breakfast

As we move towards autumn, it’s a good time to start thinking about how we can nourish ourselves a little differently.

The days are getting cooler, routines are changing and, after a summer of lighter meals and perhaps a slightly more relaxed approach to food, I always think there’s something rather lovely about getting back into the rhythm of wholesome, nourishing meals.

So, this month we’re sharing something I will definitely be eating on repeat: Linda’s favourite high-protein breakfast – it’s a simple, delicious combination of rye sourdough, avocado, tomatoes, eggs, cottage cheese and seeds.

Not only does this brekkie taste great, but it’s packed with protein.

Why protein matters

Protein is an important part of every woman’s diet, but it becomes particularly valuable as we get older. From our 30s onwards, we gradually become less efficient at maintaining muscle mass, and supporting our muscles with enough protein – alongside regular movement and strength training – becomes increasingly important.

Getting a good amount of protein at breakfast is a simple way to start the day well. It can help keep hunger at bay, support muscle maintenance and give you a more sustained, satisfying start to your morning, rather than reaching for a snack an hour or two later.

And you don’t need anything complicated. This breakfast is made from everyday ingredients, takes just a few minutes to put together and can easily be adapted depending on what you have in the fridge. I often add kimchi to my plate for an added probiotic boost.

Alongside the protein, you’re getting plenty of fibre, healthy fats, antioxidants and essential nutrients – it’s a winning choice!
