Everything you need to know about activated charcoal
Activated charcoal is a natural substance that has been used for centuries to treat a range of ailments, from digestive problems to skin issues. In recent years, it has seen a surge in popularity thanks to its wide array of uses and its numerous health benefits. From its ability to adsorb harmful parasites, pathogenic bacteria, viruses and gut endotoxins, eliminating them with stool, and improve gut health generally, to its reported ability to whiten teeth and clear up acne, activated charcoal is a versatile supplement with many benefits.
Activated charcoal is also a very intelligent gut health supplement, as it goes to work by keeping toxins and chemicals in the gut confined and stopping their absorption into the bloodstream. Its huge surface area with a porous consistency actually has a negative electrical charge, making it attract positively-charged molecules like toxins and gases, and catching and trapping those nasties in your gut. Since your body doesn’t absorb activated charcoal, it transports the toxins on its surface out of the body via your poo – clever stuff! But, as already mentioned, its benefits don’t stop here.
