As the weather gets warmer, lighter meals can make a big difference to how we feel day to day. Our Tuna, courgette and celeriac slaw is one of those simple recipes that feels fresh, nourishing and satisfying without being heavy – perfect for sunny lunches, quick midweek dinners or easy meal prep.

It’s packed with crunchy seasonal vegetables, refreshing flavours and a balance of protein, fibre and healthy fats to help keep energy stable and cravings at bay during the summer months.
This recipe is also naturally lower FODMAP, making it a great option if you struggle with bloating, digestive discomfort or IBS-type symptoms. Lower FODMAP meals can help reduce digestive stress by limiting certain fermentable carbohydrates that may trigger gas, bloating and abdominal discomfort in more sensitive individuals.
One thing to note – because this slaw contains lots of raw vegetables, we recommend enjoying it earlier in the day, ideally as a lunch rather than with dinner after 4pm. Raw vegetables and salads are rich in cellulose which is fantastic for feeding friendly gut bacteria and supporting the production of important anti-inflammatory short-chain fatty acids. However, raw foods can sometimes be harder to digest later in the day and may contribute to gas, bloating or abdominal cramps.
We’ve paired the recipe with an avocado oil mayonnaise for a creamy finish and extra healthy fats – this is the one we recommend: Hunter & Gather Classic Avocado Oil Mayonnaise
Choose your mayo wisely!
Unlike many traditional mayonnaise options made with processed vegetable oils, avocado oil mayo provides a source of healthier monounsaturated fats, which may help support inflammation balance, hormone health and the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients from meals. It’s also a great option if you’re looking to avoid seed oils while still enjoying a creamy, satisfying dressing.
A few more reasons we love this slaw:
- Reduces bloating – light, water-rich vegetables and easy-to-digest ingredients help avoid heaviness and discomfort
- Balances blood sugar – the combination of protein, fibre and healthy fats supports steadier energy levels
- Supports regular bowel movements – fibre, hydration and healthy fats work together to support comfortable digestion and regularity
