Feeling better? Don’t make this mistake!

Supplements Just for Tummies

I’m sure we’ve all made this mistake. We take something to help us feel better… and when we see an improvement, we stop the thing that was helping.

Here at Just For Tummies, we hear this story time and time again.

One customer first came to us several years ago after struggling with bloating, constipation, digestive discomfort and reflux following gallbladder removal. After trying various approaches, I recommended she introduce our Digestive Enzymes and Live Bacteria into her routine and, over time, she noticed a real difference – more comfortable digestion, better regularity and enough improvement to even stop taking reflux medication.

Fast forward a few years and, feeling much better, she decided to stop taking her supplements. Like many people, she wondered whether she still needed them.

At the same time, she focused on eating well, improving her nutrition and following broader gut health guidance – including general nutrition advice and at-home testing that looks at the gut microbiome in more detail, alongside recommendations based on individual results, – as offered by a well-known British company in this space (and at quite a price).

But despite doing ‘all the right things’, her digestive symptoms gradually began creeping back, and she felt as though she’d wasted her money with the gut microbiome testing and nutrition advice.

Sound familiar? The truth is that gut health is rarely one-size-fits-all.

General nutrition advice can be incredibly helpful, but our bodies, health histories and digestive needs are individual. What works brilliantly for one person may not work in quite the same way for another. One thing to remember with gut microbiome stool testing, is that it just gives a snapshot of what’s happening in the gut at the time the stool is tested.  So many variables and factors affect the make-up of the gut microbiome, and the gut is in a constant state of flux. It’s simply not possible to give a 100% accurate test of what’s happening in the gut at any given time.

And importantly: even with data-led or highly personalised nutrition guidance, eating well doesn’t always mean your digestion is functioning optimally.

For some people, particularly those with a history of digestive issues, ongoing support can still make a real difference.

How the supplements help

Live Bacteria and Digestive Enzymes

Digestive Enzymes help break food down properly – particularly important if digestion feels sluggish, meals leave you bloated or uncomfortable, or your body needs extra digestive support through better nutrient absorption.

Live Bacteria help support balance in the gut and bowel regularity over time.

One helps break food down. The other helps support the gut environment.

Sometimes, when people stop taking supplements because they feel better, they only realise months later just how much support they were getting from their supplements.

If your digestion has felt ‘not quite right’ lately, it may be worth revisiting what has helped you in the past.
